Another conference tour not to be missed! The Australian War Memorial is offering 30 conference delegates the opportunity to go behind the scenes to view their three main large technology stores. The tour also includes opportunity to view the newly constructed Treloar E facility which now houses the bulk of the Memorial’s aircraft collection. Hop on over to the ARC website to register. Check out the ARC conference programme and book a tour of DAMsmart's audiovisual preservation and digitisation facility.
Visit the team at DAMsmart in Mitchell to experience their audiovisual preservation and digitisation facility. DAMsmart works with a broad range of Australian and international collection owners to professionally and safely digitise videotape, film and audio formats. This visit to DAMsmart will give attendees the chance to take a guided walk-through the purpose-built facility and learn about their approaches to AV digitisation, including collection control and management, conservation, digitisation (audio, film, video) and data management.
DAMsmart has worked across a huge range of archives, including highly valuable collections, such as the Nelson Mandela Foundation’s archive, unique artwork collections such as those held by the Art Gallery of NSW, through to mass migration projects, that have seen DAMsmart digitise over 42,000 hours for SBS. This tour will offer delegates a unique insight into the complex world of audiovisual digitisation and preservation.

ARC are pleased to announce another tour has been added to the conference programme: Behind the scenes tour and RFiD demo– Parliament House Art Collection
Wednesday 25 March – 2pm and 3.30pm (maximum of 20 people per tour)
Duration – 1.5 hours
Created specifically for Australian Parliament House, the Parliament House Art Collection (PHAC) comprises more than 7,000 objects of which more than 50% are on display at any given time spread throughout the building’s 4,700 rooms and across the 23 hectare site. Join PHAC staff for a tour of the art store, a demonstration of the newly implemented RFiD audit and tracking system for collection objects (Smarttrack RFiD/Vernon CMS) and a behind the scenes peek in the private areas.
